Welcome to the Andover Triathlon Club
Hello. Thanks for visiting Andover Triathlon Club’s website
Triathlon is seen by many as a sport full of “elite” athletes, who are super fit and devote their life to training and racing. This is far from the case. Triathlon is currently one of the biggest growth sports in Great Britain and more and more people are seeking triathlon as a way of keeping fit and many also take on the challenge of racing as a goal to aim for.
For some, the challenge is purely completing the course and the sense of achievement this brings. For the majority, they aim to enjoy the training and racing and look to improve in each discipline enough to make the experience comfortable. For the gifted ones, being competitive while racing is an ultimate aim.
Triathlon takes on many forms from Supersprints (200m swim, 10k bike, 3k run), right through to Ironman (3.8k swim, 112 mile bike and then a full marathon)! In between there are several other distances, with differing ratio’s and other similar events such as duathlons (bike and run), aquathons (swim and run) and for those who are more adventurous adventure racing / mountain biking etc, so it is easy to find an event that suits you.
Andover Triathlon Club is a small, active and rapidly expanding, local club full of friendly members, many of whom share one common pastime. They all enjoy socialising, staying fit and healthy and have a love for swimming, cycling or running in addition to other hobbies. Some actually enjoy all three!
The club caters for all abilities and we have a real mix from first timers, to seasoned athletes, some who have already completed “Ironman” events. We also have members who enjoy differing variations such as mountain biking or simply one discipline from the three.
We are an active organisation, well respected within the local community, currently providing five training opportunities a week. We have several experienced BTF qualified coaches who run a variety of the sessions. We get involved in local and national events in addition to also organising our own junior and adult triathlon each year.
If training, racing and making friends with like-minded people such as those described above sounds like it would be of interest, then perhaps we are the club for you. If so then contact one of the committee and we look forward to meeting you.
